If you know me, you know I LOVE Caribbean music. Particularly Dancehall and Reggae music. But when it comes to Soca…ehhh, not so much. I’m usually good for 2 or 3 songs then I gotta sit down somewhere. There is almost TOO much energy, happiness and jumpin’ up for me in Soca music. But since my #TriniBoo made his appearance (Don’t worry bout alla dat. Dah is big people business), I’ve resigned myself to the fact that there will be way more Soca in my life these days. And I’m actually starting to enjoy it more. I recognize more chunes now and can go for 5 or 6 songs before I’ve had enough LOL.
Here are a few chunes that have become popular in the 2014 Carnival season that you’ll find me ‘peltin’ waist’ to 🙂 Enjoy!
What are your favorite Soca chunes? Which artist is consistently delivering some wicked riddims? What did you think of the 2014 Soca season?
I am a Bajan soca fan! Machel of course… and Beenie Man when he ventures into soca!
So…I guess that means you won’t be at Socaerobics? Lol!Power soca (what it sounds like youre used to) is a serious workout, but it’s all about throwing your cares away and having a good time. Groovy soca is slower.
You have some good songs on your list, but what about Chuku Chuku by Saucy, Skinny Banton’s Soak it Good, and my boy Kerwin’s Doh Beg?
LOL! i gwan try gyal. I’ve done a dancehall workout class and that had me panting. I can only imagine my condition after socaerobics.
Oh lawd, there’s sub-genres of soca? So much to learn and labor day fast approaching! 🙂
I don’t know them song. Lemme check them out.
