RACA is a place where we hyphens can celebrate, commiserate and poke fun at all that it means to live, love, parent and party between cultures. If you have a story to tell and it’s relevant to the Caribbean-American / Caribbean Diaspora experience, we want to help you tell it. See below for our current call and submissions form.

We are currently accepting pitches and posts on the following subject:

CURATING THE CARIBBEAN:    Beyond Beaches, Bikinis & Bob Marley

For many, the Caribbean is synonymous with white sand beaches, black rastamen, reggae, and good weed. But there are many other types of Caribbean music, peoples, and traditions that don’t get their well-deserved shine. For our March issue, we are seeking written, audio and visual submissions that speak to a fuller, more authentic representation of the Caribbean and diaspora.

We want stories of Caribbean traditions not usually represented in the media. Explorations of the music not generally associated with the region. Images of the diverse people living in the islands and throughout the diaspora.

If you would like to contribute to this issue, please fill out our submissions form below. Submissions for the March issue are due by February 7, 2021

If you’d like to write about a topic not listed above, feel free to pitch us.

We accept articles, photo-essays, audio, videos and guest suggestions for our podcast Ah Who Dat?

We are looking for serious takes, humorous POVs and moving content that entertains, challenges and educates us all that it means to be of Caribbean heritage.

All published contributors are paid a small honorarium

Please Note:

  • Submissions must be original work and not previously published.
  • Work may not be reproduced in its entirety elsewhere. An excerpt from the post may be reproduced with a link back to the full piece on RACA.
  • RACA will edit for clarity/length as needed.

If approved, your submission will be posted with a short bio and a link to your blog or website
